  1. Have you considered using the book Storming the Tulips in your Classroom Sets and Teaching Trunks? School Library Journal suggested it as a resource to accompany The Diary of Anne Frank. The book was written by Hannie J. Voyles, who at one time went to school with Anne Frank, and this book tells the stories of 20 of their schoolmates who survived the Nazi occupation, although they all nearly lost their lives. Anne's story tells of life sequestered in the Annex, while Storming the Tulips shows what life was like on the streets, hiding Jews, and scavenging for food in Amsterdam. Published in 2011, Holocaust educators are using this resource as a follow-on to Anne's diary. Would you be interested in receiving a copy to evaluate for your Middle School Teaching Trunks?
